iPhone Home Page: Part 2

Home Page Stats

So...in the last post, I discussed the fixed row of my iPhone home page.  In this post, I'm just going to list out some general observations from the 20 apps on my home page.

  • 4 of them are paid apps
  • 12 apps came with the iPhone
  • 9 apps sync to my laptop
  • 7 of the synched apps are synched automatically & wirelessly
  • 4 apps are synched using Apple's MobileMe service
  • 3 of the synched apps are synched with my wife's iPhone
  • 12 of the apps are used on a daily basis
  • 4 apps are used to send & receive communications with others
  • 4 apps are location-aware (use GPS info from the phone)
  • 2 apps are password-protected upon launch
  • 6 apps provide information that are password-protected
  • 5 apps provide information that is accessible through various Google Apps
  • 6 apps make use of pictures and videos
  • 6 apps are used within the first hour that I'm awake
  • 6 apps are used "safely" when I'm on the road

These are just a few stats about my home page.  What do they say about me?  Well, you can be the judge of that, but for sure it says one thing...a HUGE portion of my life is routed through my iPhone.  In writing this post, it became very clear to me that calling this device a phone is so old-school.  I use it as a "phone" in the traditional sense only about 5% of the time.  The rest of the time it is a device that provides quick access to my schedule, contacts, emails, tasks, world news, friend news, financial status, religious content, driving/walking directions...you get the idea.

How do you use your mobile device?  Is it just a phone or is it more?
